Sara Nichols,Manager of AlzCare, San Marcos, TX

Sara started her career in long-term care 15 years ago.  She attended Texas State where she received masters degree in Social work with a focus in direct care. Most of her career has been spent as nursing home social worker with the exception of working for Seton Heritage program as a psychotherapist facilitating group and individual therapy.  Sara’s career at AlzCare began in October 2008.

“ I would say that I am most passionate about assisting in creating quality of life at the end of life”.

Your readers, like two million Canadians, are often faced with taking on the role of a caring for their elderly parents, spouses and/or friends who wish to remain at home while they confront the challenges of aging. While taking care of a loved one can be very fulfilling, it can also be physically and emotionally draining and lead to burn-out and a search for alternatives, including moving the senior to residential care.
